Commander:
Lieutenant B.L. Franklin
The Patrol Deputy is one of the most visible members of the Vance County Sheriff's Office, providing round the clock service to the citizens, businesses and visitors of Vance County.
The Patrol Division serves an estimated population of 45,000 residents covering approximately 269 square miles.
Vance County is the home of Kerr Lake and our Deputies assist the North Carolina Parks Service with law enforcement issues that may arise on State Property. Also, the Deputies assist the Henderson Police Department when requested.
Each Patrol Deputy works to protect life and property, ensure the civil rights of individuals and maintain public peace. In addition the Deputies provide citizen assistance, enforce criminal laws, motor vehicle laws and respond to emergency situations.
The Vance County Sheriff's Office is also assisted by five specially trained K-9 teams. Each team is made up of one human partner and one K-9. The Sheriff's Office has three teams that are used primarily for drug detection and suspect apprehension. The other two teams are trained for bomb detection and cadaver recovery. These units play an integral role in various investigations and emergency situations routinely handled by the Sheriff's Office.
If you find yourself in need of law enforcement services please dial "911" and one of our Deputies will be sent to you. For all other questions you can call the Sheriff's Office, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, and our office staff will direct you to the proper person for your needs.
