The Vance County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is comprised of five (5)

specially trained Deputies and two supervisors that investigate and follow up on crimes that occur in Vance County. The cases that are assigned to the CID are usually felonious in nature. However, the CID does investigate serious misdemeanors that require additional follow up. Occasionally the CID requires the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, North Carolina Bureau of Alcohol Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Generally, the CID investigates crimes such as Murder, Felonious Assault, Sexual Assault, Felonious Breaking and Entering, False Pretense Crimes, Identity Theft, Embezzlement, Larceny of Motor Vehicles, Arson and Burglary.
