Court Division Overview

The Vance County Sheriff's Office, like all other sheriff's offices in North Carolina, is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the courts and courthouse. The Court Division is comprised of two (2) sworn Deputies and three (3) security specialists. One of the major functions of the Court Division is to operate our metal detector /x-ray machine while the courthouse is open to the public. Another function is to have personnel in the courtrooms while courts are in session. In addition, the Court Division Staff is responsible for the care, control and movement of jurors during jury trials. The staff also responds to inquiries and complaints. Requests from the public, attorneys and jurors are also handled within the scope of their knowledge and authority. Vance County Courthouse
